캐나다와 한국에 거주했을 경우

경우에 따라 다르겠지만 캐나다와 한국에 거주하여 각 국가 연금제도에 기여했을 경우 동시에 혜택을 받을 수 있습니다. 캐나다와 한국은 서로 사회보장협정이 맺어진 국가이므로 동시에 혜택을 누릴 수도 있고, 둘 중 한 국가의 연금혜택을 받을 수도 있습니다. 그렇기 때문에 캐나다에 거주하지 않아도 캐나다 연금 혜택을 받을 수 있는 자격이 주어지며, 반대로 캐나다에 거주하고 있어도 한국 연금 혜택을 받을 자격이 주어집니다. 협정에 포함되는 캐나다 연금 혜택으로는 CPP와 OAS가 있습니다. OAS 자격조건에 충족되지 못한 경우 (예: 18세 이후 캐나다에 10년 이상 거주하지 않았을 경우), 1988년 부터 한국에서 거주한 기간을 캐나다에 거주한 기간과 동일하게 인정하여 OAS 혜택을 받을 수 있게 됩니다. 만일 한국에 거주중인데 캐나다 연금 신청을 하고 싶다면 위에 거론된 신청서들을 작성하여 International Operations- Service Canada로 보내면 됩니다.
